ovarian cysts treatment?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I am 29 years old and suffer from severe ovarian cysts. They are very painful. I was put on birth control, but that caused blood clotting that started in my legs and then went to my lungs. I have been told that I can never do hormonal therapy again. My doctor has told me that I will have to have my ovaries removed. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and what other options are out there? Any suggestions!!

Did they also put you on a diabetic medication? If so it is probably Polycystic Ovarian syndrome. My wife had it and as a result she was infertile for over 10 years. With in a year of starting Atkins (diet) she was pregnant and no more ovarian cysts. Also she takes/took Vitex/chaste tree berry. It is a herbal Progestrone suppliment suggested for ovarian cysts.

Feel free to email me if you want or need more info.

What treatment is given for ovarian cysts that come and go?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I have a cyst on my remaing ovary, but my Gyn said they leak out and they aren’t worth removing an ovary over. 3 yrs later,I can barely stand to stit without feeling like I’m gonna pee myself!! Why can’t they remove this ovary which I wanted!!!

While 95% of all cysts are benign, the current treatment is a wait and see approach. 44% of cysts will resolve on their own. They should be checked with ultrasound at various intervals. For those that don’t resolve on their own, surgery is usually required

Is it possible to have a ovarian cyst bust and not even notice it?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

A couple months ago I had some pressure and swelling on the right side around the ovarian area, I would have shooting pains in the area sometimes but then one day I had a huge pain and it never came back. I didn’t bleed abnormally, there’s no pain there anymore. So could a cyst bust and get no medical attention and I can still be fine?

Yes, that could be what happened to you. When I had a leaking cyst the pain was so severe that I ended up in the emergency room on morphine and still could barely handle the pain. I didn’t really notice any bleeding–they did a urine test and told me there was blood present but I otherwise wouldn’t have known. They usually don’t do anything medically for a burst cyst other than give you meds to handle the pain. I’d talk to a doctor about it. Being on birth control pills can help prevent ovarian cysts.

Is it possible to outgrow my teenage ovarian cysts?

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

When I was 16 the doctor found I had an ovarian cyst. I went on birth control to prevent them and am wondering if it is something that maybe I’ve outgrown in the last 5 years. Is it possible to outgrow getting ovarian cysts? Is it safe to stop birth control? Or should I continue with birth control because it’s not worth the risk? I’m going to ask my doctor the next time I have an appointment but I’m researching in the meantime. Thanks!

Your best bet is to see the ob/gyn and have them run a check on the status of your ovaries and/or any cyst.
I currently am trying to conceive and every month I go in for my check up I have cysts. From my understand they come and go with your menstrual cycles. Some do stay, but those should be looked into since you want to make sure you don’t develop polycystic ovaries.

My friend has been diagnosed with a cyst in the left ovary. Can anyone suggest me a good and experienced doctor for treatment in chennai.

I had them when I was a teeanager and my doctor put me on birth control pills to reduce them. This was the trick! THey went away quickly and never came back. Some people will need surgery, though if other types of treatment don’t work for them.

Ovarian Cysts and Nonconventional nonsurgical treatment?

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I was diagnosed with somewhat large cysts on both ovaries this summer. One cyst is complex (which means it could be an endometrioma or a dermoid cyst) and the other looks like a large fluid or blood filled cyst but they don’t know for sure. The doctors are recommending surgery but I don’t want to try surgery as of yet. I am currently on birth control pills to help with cysts and I also am going to try some natural therapies from a licensed Naturopath. I have a question for you guys. Should I continue taking the birth control pills along with the herbal and Chinese medicines or should I stop the birth control pills and just take the natural remedies? I began the pill in late August and if actually feels as if one of my cyst has grown larger since then. I also have some breast tenderness. A lot of people say that birth control pills are "toxic" and if I’m going to do natural medicine, then I should just do that. What do you all think? Any advice would be much appreciated.
I don’t have any children.

Homeopathic Medicines & Treatment for Ovarian Cysts, Ovary Pain Neuralgia, Ovaritis

#Apis mellifica. [Apis]
Few remedies cause as many ovarian symptoms as Apis. It has an active congestion of the right ovary going on to ovaritis, with soreness in the inguinal region, burning, stinging and tumefaction. Ovarian cysts in their incipiency have been arrested by this remedy; here one of the indicating features is numbness down the thigh. It has also proved useful in affections of the left ovary. Tightness of the chest may also be present, with the occurrence of a reflex cough and urging to urinate. Mercurius corrosivus. Hughes prefers this remedy in ovarian neuralgia. Peritoneal complications also indicate it. Bovista has also cured ovarian tumors.

#Belladonna. [Bell]
As this remedy is one particularly adapted to glandular growths it is especially useful in acute ovaritis, and more so if the peritoneum be involved. The pains are clutching and throbbing, worse on the right side, the slightest jar is painful, and the patient is extremely sensitive. The symptoms appear suddenly; flushed face and other Belladonna symptoms are present. Platinum. Ovaries sensitive, burning pains in them, bearing down, chronic ovarian irritation with sexual excitement. Much ovarian induration is present. Palladium. Swelling and induration of right ovary. It lacks the mental symptoms of Platinum, such as mental egotism and excitement. Aurum. Ovarian induration. Lilium. Ovarian neuralgias. Burning pains from ovary up into abdomen and down into thighs, shooting pains from left ovary across the pubes, or up to the mammary gland. Staphisagria. Very useful in ovarian irritation in nervous, irritable women. Hypochondriacal moods.

#Lachesis. [Lach]
Pain in left ovary relieved by a discharge from the uterus; can bear nothing heavy on region. Hughes and Guernsey seem to think that Lachesis acts even more prominently on the right ovary; others believe the opposite, the tendency of affections being, however, to move from the left toward the right side. Suppuration and chronic enlargements of ovary may call for Lachesis. Zincum. Boring in the left ovary relieved by the flow, somewhat better from pressure; fidgety feet. Graphites. Swelling and induration of the left ovary; also pains in the right ovarian region with delayed scanty menses. Argentum metallicum. Bruised pain in left ovary and sensation as if ovary were growing large. Naja. Violent crampy pain in left ovary. Dr. Hughes valued it in obscure ovarian pains not inflammatory in nature.

#Arsenicum. [Ars]
Burning tensive pains in the ovaries, especially in the right. Ovaritis relieved by hot applications. Patient thirsty, irritable and restless. Colocynth. Ovarian colic; griping pains, relieved by bending double; stitching pains deep in right ovarian region. It is also a useful remedy, according to Southwick, in ovaritis of left ovary with colicky pains. A dropsical condition may be present. Hamamelis. Ovaritis and ovarian neuralgia. Ludlam praises this remedy in the sub-acute form of gonorrhoeal ovaritis; it allays the pain and averts the menstrual derangement. Ovaritis after a blow. There is agonizing soreness all over the abdomen. An external application of hot extract of Hamamelis acts marvelously in subduing the distress and pain consequent to ovaritis. Iodine. Congestion or dropsy of the right ovary. Dwindling of the mammae; dull, pressing, wedge-like pain, extending from right ovary to uterus like a plug, worse during menstruation. Thuja. Left-sided ovaritis, with suspicion of veneral taint, calls for Thuja. Grumbling pains in the ovaries all the time, with mental irritability, call for Thuja. Podophyllum has a pain in the right ovary, running down the thigh of that side. Numbness may be an attending symptom.
