How long does it take to have an ovarian cyst reabsorb?

I have a 4.5 cm ovarian cyst that hasn’t ruptured. Has anyone any idea of how long this could take to go away? What might happen to me if it ruptures?

    i had one rupture. nothing really happens. i went to the hospital got examined got pain meds and went home the same day. apparently its very common

    They could take a few days or months to go away.

    When I had ovarian cysts, they were very painful right before they ruptured. When one did, I passed out from the pain. But nothing was permanently injured and as soon as I got on birth control, I stopped getting cysts on my ovaries.

    If you get them often and they cause a lot of pain, I would ask the doctor about being put on birth control.
