The reason I ask is that I went to the ER last night with abdominal pain & swelling & the doctor prescribed naprosyn (anti-inflamatory med) that has caused my whole body to be less puffy. He suspects an ovarian cyst & I am being sent for further tests.
Thanks everyone!
Yes, because it is interfering with your estrogens and estriadol, causing women’s bloating issues. Make sure you don’t have endometriosis.

An ovarian cyst shouldn’t cause all-over swelling/edema, no. Usually you can’t even tell from the outside that a woman has an ovarian cyst, it can only be felt by palpitation or found on an ultrasound. The ovaries are nestled very deeply in your abdomen, right at the core, so they rarely bulge in a visible way. You may have an ovarian cyst, but typically they do not cause swelling, so I really don’t know what the cause of your swelling was.

My ovarian cyst (the size of a baseball) made me bloated. It came in waves of pain. Sometimes I could walk around and be like normal while at other times I was racked with pain and on my floor wishing I would die. Go to a gynecologist and have an ultrasound done. Hiding behind my ovarian cyst was a tumor the size of a softball. Better be safe than sorry… don’t let the doctor’s be stupid, assert yourself and seek the help you need. This can be a very painful situation.

Last Sunday I had an operation on a 3-inch diameter ovarian cyst and a 4-inch diameter ovarian tumor which had both caused my ovary to twist on itself. On top of all that, my fallopian tube was stretched and wrapped around my abnormal growths twice.
