If ovarian cysts keep you from getting period what are the chances you would have to have them removed?

I have ovarian cysts and the last period I’ve gotten was either in October. I haven’t had any spotting or anything. To the answer of maybe I’m pregnant, I do not think I am because I’ve taken 2 tests w/ 2 negative results. People with any personal experiences or any nurses I would greatly appreciate your answers!

if you have the cyst best thing is to take is birth control it reduces the size or maybe eliminate the cyst i had it twice and i had surgery because i detected it to late it was too big you need to either take the birth control or take the surgery because every time you get it slightly reduces chances of pregnancy so talk to your doctor for a sonogram to check the size if they suggest surgery ask for alternatives because the surgery is painful after waking up if you need more info e-mail me tanipooh91@yahoo.com

I don’t know if you have to have them removed or not, however, you should be aware of the consequences if one bursts. I had a ovarian cyst that burst a few years ago and I ended up in the hospital for a short time. You definitely want to talk about your options with your doctor.

I have had cysts and they are no fun at all. The cysts cause you not to have a normal period and can possibably cause other problems. I would go to my gyno and have them look to make sure there isn’t another problem related to why you are not having a period, I had a cyst and it was awful, I was in so much pain with it. My doctor gave me a shot and did a ultra sound. I returned to the doctor the next week and a day before I was to go I was in the worst pain of my life the cyst had burst. It was the size of a large grade A egg.

Then the next year, I missed my period for 4 months I knew beyond a shodow of a doubt that I wasn’t pregnant, but when my period came back it came back with a vengance. I bled like 2 months straight and extremely heavy at that.

I was waiting to see the doctor cause after the third week I decided my period wasn’t going away on its on so I decided to make an appointment and they got me in at the end of the 2nd month.

My doctor did a pap smear to make sure there was nothing else wrong and put me on a birth control pill to stop the bleeding, she said that if after I was on it for 2 weeks if my period hadn’t stoped then we would look into having surgery. but it did stop and I kept my period under control with birth control pill. Since then I haven’t had any cysts it’s all been good.

You need to go to your doctor just to make sure that there isn’t something else that could be wrong. and believe me you don’t want to end up like I did not having a period then getting the Nigra Falls of all periods.

Oh and from what I understand doctors don’t remove cysts unless there is other problems and if they are not causing pain. Mine caused sever pain. My doctor told me that if the pill did not help then we would have to have the ovary removed that was getting the cysts and I really didn’t want to do that.

So just check with your doctor :)
