Is it possible to outgrow my teenage ovarian cysts?

When I was 16 the doctor found I had an ovarian cyst. I went on birth control to prevent them and am wondering if it is something that maybe I’ve outgrown in the last 5 years. Is it possible to outgrow getting ovarian cysts? Is it safe to stop birth control? Or should I continue with birth control because it’s not worth the risk? I’m going to ask my doctor the next time I have an appointment but I’m researching in the meantime. Thanks!

Your best bet is to see the ob/gyn and have them run a check on the status of your ovaries and/or any cyst.
I currently am trying to conceive and every month I go in for my check up I have cysts. From my understand they come and go with your menstrual cycles. Some do stay, but those should be looked into since you want to make sure you don’t develop polycystic ovaries.

Hi there! I went to the doc when I was 17 b/c I was having all kinds of pains in my left side, and my doc said that I had an ovarian cyst. She put me on birth control, but I could always tell when they came back (so painful!). So as for my experience…no, I’ve never outgrown the cysts. I’m 24 now and I still get them, even when I’m on the pill. Currently I’m on a stronger birth control and it actually makes them worse. I’m going to talk to my gyno next time i’m in there, but as for my situation they’ve been there :(
