Ovarian CYSTS?

When I was in 10th grade, I noticed I started getting really bad pains around my butt. It went on for a few weeks. I had to go to the ER one night because I felt like I was going to die! They ran some kind of scan and after 3 hours, they told me I had cysts and that they weren’t that big. I had 1 on each ovary=2. I’ve been to the gynocologist 3 times since then, due to lack of periods. They never really worried about my cysts, but they knew about them. They told me back in 10th grade, they would disappear eventually. Well, I’m now almost done with my SENIOR YEAR in high school and I still have cysts. They usually come here and there and especially in the middle of the night. I have to stretch my legs out to not feel the pressure. Then they go away. Why haven’t they disappeared after 2 years? Is this normal? Will they go away? Due to my lack of periods? I can function in everyday life, but I don’t want to have to put up with this for the rest of my life! Surgery? I hope not! Thanks!

I’ve had ovarian cysts soooo many times. I’ve had 2 laproscopic surgies because twice I had a 1lb cyst on my ovary. They removed it and have been fine. My gynocologist said that cysts will come and go. The pain you feel is when a cyst is twisting and breaking off. In my sister’s case, she had cysts over and over again, to the point she had part of her ovary removed. But that was because of the severity and the years she kept suffering with it. As long as you keep getting your checkups, you will be fine.

Since you have gone to the gynocologist they havent put you on oral contraceptives to shrink them? Im 27 and just got diagnosed with this and so far one month on the pill it has helped me tremendously. I would start researching getting started on the pill to help with the monthly pain. Luckily yours didnt rupture…mine did and I was in such horrific pain! Good luck and I feel for ya!

They do typically go away. I would suggest getting on the birth control pill. The hormones it gives to your body can help with small cysts.

Whatever you do, don’t let this go without talking about it a lot and pressing for resolutions. Tell your doctors that waiting is just not going to cut it for you. If you have to, go see another doctor.

My sister had a cyst for 5 years, finally said something, and had to have surgery while she pregnant to have it removed. It was the size of a football, not joking.

    Don’t let this issue go!!!
